Scan Details

All films are scanned at 720p (Pixel Dimensions (Width × Height) 1280 × 720). Film is scanned at 1080p to faithfully preserve the subtle details, textures, and full range of colors present in the original footage. By scanning at this resolution, we can capture the nuances of the image, from the finest grain patterns to the delicate shifts in lighting and color that give the film its unique character. Every frame is treated with care to ensure that the visual integrity of the original material is maintained, allowing viewers to experience the film as closely as possible to its intended presentation.

Scan Size Details

When scanning 35mm or medium format negatives, the DPI setting determines how much detail is captured and the potential print size. Scanning at 2400 DPI is ideal for general use and prints up to roughly 8×10 inches (35mm) or larger for medium format, with smaller file sizes and faster scans. Increasing to 3200 DPI captures finer detail, suitable for higher-quality prints or archiving, while 4800–6400 DPI maximises detail for professional archiving or very large prints, though it produces much larger files and longer scan times. For most everyday purposes, 2400–3200 DPI is sufficient, while medium format benefits more noticeably from higher DPI scans.
